White mutton Gravy (white kurma)


            White mutton gravy is yummy and flavourful south indian recipe. Our grandma used to make this recipe. This recipe is very  popular in our muslims homes. We make this recipe for muslim marriages and event along with ghee rice. This gravy name is called white kurma or white samma.

White mutton Gravy





Ingredients: 

1/2 kg Mutton pieces

5 onion medium size (sliced)

1 cinnamon stick 

2  or 3 cardamom

2 cloves

4 or 5 Green chillies

Oil 50 ml

Ghee 2 tbsp

cashew 25 to 30 g

20 g almond or pista paste(optional)

4 tbsp Coconut paste

1 tsp Fennel seed powder 

2 tbsp ginger and garlic paste

1/2 tsp White Pepper powder

1/2 black pepper powder

1/4 bunch of coriander leaves.


Method:

      Take half coconut. Grind it with nuts as a paste or you can grind it seperately. Keep them aside

       Heat oil in a pan. Add ghee. Then add cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and bay leaves. Fry them for half a minute.

 Then add onion slices on it. Stir till it turns slightly brown. Then add ginger and garlic paste, fry for 1 minute. 

Now Add mutton pieces and green chillies. mix them well. Stir for 2 minutes. 

Then add fennel powder, white pepper powder and black pepper powder. Mix them well. 

Then add curd and salt. Add 2 cup of water, boil them for 2 minutes. 

Now add grinded coconut and cashew paste. Mix well them, if gravy is very thick, adjust by required water. Now close the lid and cook well untill mutton turns soft.
 
When meat cooked add coriander leaves. Then switch off the flame. 

Now white chicken gravy is ready. Serve with ghee rice or pulao, roti and idyappam.

Vattilappam is a delicious and sweet food recipe. It is one of the most famous south Indians eid day special recipe. Seasame seed chutney (thovayal)

  Ellu thovayal Ellu thovayal (sesame chutney) is a traditional south Indian recipe. It is very spicy and sour recipe. It is also easy to make. This is a very old popular side dish recipe for rice. It is made with sesame seeds. These seeds are very healthy for our body. Its have calcium, protein, iron etc.  Ingredients: Oil 2 tsp 1/2 cup black sesame seed or white seed 5 Dry red chilli 6 garlic  Tamarind (1 gooseberry size)  Coconut pieces 2 or 3 Preparation: Heat oil in a pan. Add sesame seeds, dry chilli, saute for 1 minute. Then add garlic, Tamarind and coconut pieces. fry them till it turns slightly brown. Then turn off the flame and leave it cool. After getting cool transfer them into a mixie jar. Grind with the required amount of water and salt. It should be a thick and smooth paste. Then transfer into a bowl. Now thovaiyal is ready. serve with tamarind rice or lemon rice. This combination will be amazing.
