Tiffin sambar
Ingredients:
- Toor dal 1 cup
- 1 onion
- 4 garlic
- 1 tomato
- 1 tablespoon sambar powder
- 1/2 Mustard seed
- 1/4 tsp fenugreek
- 1 tsp hing
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 red dry chilli
- 1/2 tsp chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Half tbsp coriander powder
- Tamarind( 2 peanut size)
- Coriander leaves
- 1 drumstick or 1 brinjal(you can add more).
Wash and pressure cook 1 cup of toor dal. Smash the cooked dal and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan. Add Mustard and crackled them. Add red chillies, cumin, fenugreek, hing and curry leaves, Saute well and add sliced onion. saute till it turned brown then add tomato and saute well. Then add garlic, sambar powder, chilly powder, chopped vegetables and pour required amount of water. Add coriander powder and salt, mix well. When the vegetables are cooked add smashed dal and tamarind water. Bring to a boil for 2 min and stir well. Add coriander leaves, then turn off the flame. Now flavourful sambar ready for idli or dosa.
